When the stores have seasonal clearance sales, stock up on lots of fun stuff to keep in a “gift closet”. Then when your kids have those surprise birthday party invitations, you don’t have to rush out and spend a lot of money at the last minute. Your kids can still “shop” from the closet, and it saves tons of money in the longrun.

What a cute bag!
Use peroxide on laundry stains. Its a lot less expensive than stain removers, plus a lot more gentle on your clothes

My dtr. and I always, or at least as much as possible, only shop from clearance racks. Even when she was just 5 years old, she knew that if it was not on the clearance rack, I wouldn’t consider it in most cases. If we look at something that isn’t on sale yet, I tell her that we know it will be soon and we just have to watch for it. I also do the same as the previous post – stock up on seasonal clearance gift items, especially after Christmas.

I keep a bag of rags in the kitchen to be used for cleaning up messes my kids make, instead of using paper towels. I buy 1 roll of paper towels a month.

I stock up on school supplies BEFORE my 3 kids need them. Most stores have supplies on sale months before school starts. I store whatever is on sale in huge Rubbermaid containers and when school starts the kids go shopping there and I have very little to buy at regular price.

I can extra tomatoes and freeze herbs in ice cube trays for use in the winter….so a few dollars worth of seeds in the spring transfers into big$$$$ for spices in winter.
I also use the online shopping list tools on the supermarket websites, and shop so that I stock up on things on sale with added coupons. Online lists let you actually see on paper what they have on sale and you can note your coupons as well.

I could think of a few, but one of my favorites is going to a surplus store in the area. I stock up on a variety of goods. They have goods that are outdated, a little damaged, almost outdated, or a surplus. I am constantly amazed at how much money I save when I shop there.

We plan our going out to eat nights according the which nights the kids eat free! And we make sure to use the Entertainment Passbook coupons! Many people buy them but forget to use them! At the first of each month, we look through the coupons and pick 5 to use and we put the dates on the calendar that we will use them!! And put them in my purse! The kids love this!

Buy large items (Sams size, whole rib eyes etc.) when on sale and split the item with another family. I do this with my brother often.

I stockpile all the extras. I do the cvs thing and order extra coupons when I find really good ones. I plan our meals around whats on sale. Hardly ever do I buy anything that doesn’t have a coupon.

One way I like to save money is by only getting the clothes on sale- I never pay full price for anything. Also at back to school time I always stock up after everything has gone on sale. You never no when you may need extra crayons and at a quarter a box I buy in bulk!
