Big Bang Mini for Nintendo DS – Product Review

by Kitty on February 10, 2009

We had the chance to review the new Big Bang Mini for Nintendo DS and when I read the description I thought my older son would be the one who enjoyed playing it. My 5 year old eagerly watched his 14 year old brother playing and sat quietly the whole time. The next day, I walked through the family room and found that my 5 year old had managed to sneak in his brother's room to get the Big Bang Mini and Nintendo DS and was delighted, giggling and making all kinds of oohs and ahhs.

I immediately began asking him how to play the game, curious to see if he could explain it because they had not read the instructions the day before. You can see from the description in the video, his version of how one would play the game. He understands the concept, although he may call some of the items by different names. I still thought it was awesome and definitely an "Everyone" game. Nice Job

Big bang for Nintendo DS is a fast paced game that puts a new spin on the classic arcade style gaming. It is all themed around fireworks and the object is to take your ship through the lights and streams of fireworks while avoiding falling debris. You must defeat enemies by using fireworks and combo attacks. Big Bang Mini was developed by SouthPeak Interactive Corp. in collaboration with Arcadia Games.

Features of the game include:

  • Using stylus to create your own fireworks
  • 9 worlds with multiple stages - different rules apply in each world
  • Collect stars dropped by your defeated enemies to advance to the next level
  • After finishing each level, player creates their own "Masterpiece" that illuminates the sky
  • Versus play for added intensity
  • Online ranking lets you see how you stack up against the competition
  • Additional game play modes and options
  • Over 20 music tracks for this game!

Big Bang Mini is available now for a suggested retail price of $19.99. It comes in an animated box that demonstrates the game in action, my 5 year old immediately grabbed the box and exclaimed that we needed to keep it because it was cool. It is rated E for Everyone, another thing my younger kids are quick to report in on.
