I love music and although no one would ever want to hear me sing, I do know how to play an instrument and I have my parents to thank for introducing me to music. Flash forward to me as a mom and needless to say, all 4 of my children love music. They are always singing, dancing and playing various musical instruments. We have had guitars, tape players, pianos, recorders, karaoke machines, you name the musical instrument and my kids have probably seen it or used it!
Recently I was introduced to Little First Act Discovery Instruments. What are they? You are probably familiar with the First Act brand and know they make instruments for tweens, teens and adults. They also have Little First Act Instruments for children 0-6 months through 3+ years.
Little First Act Discovery toys are designed for each stage of your child's development and include: "My First Instruments", "Active Music Learning", "Music Learning Pals" and "Puzzles".

We received the Shake n' Stack from the My First Instrument line to try:
"Baby can stack, grasp, shake, and jiggle to learn about sound and shape. Baby's first maraca and tambourine develop eye hand coordination and fine motor skills. The maraca angles toward the baby for easy-to-reach play."
What did we think?
I borrowed my niece to see what she thought about the Shake n' Stack. As soon as I opened the box, my niece grabbed for it, the bright colors caught her eye. I handed her the toy and was surprised to find that I didn't even have to show her how to use it. She took the maraca and began shaking it. My son picked up the tambourine, he seemed to like this toy too and he's 5! Once my niece realized that made noise too, she grabbed it in the other hand and was shaking both. She preferred taking the entire stack apart as opposed to stacking it. Every time we put it together, she took it apart to so she could "make music".
You can see from this short video that she knew exactly what to do! (Don't mind my 4 monkeys who are all around her trying to be in the video and assist).
"Little First Act Discovery's Crawl n' Go Drum and Shake n' Stack Instruments were named Greatest Products of 2008 by iParenting.com. iParenting is part of Disney Online’s network of family-focused websites."
Where Can You Buy a Little First Act Toy?
Little First Act toys can be found on the First Act website or at Amazon.com. The Shake n' Stack we tried out retails for around $12.99, which I thought was a great price!
