The Couponizer Product Review and Giveaway
I have made a New Year's resolution to be more organized (with 4 kids, a husband and a dog this is not always easy). I am finding that there are many products already out there that can help me in my search to become more efficient.
One of them is The Couponizer, a product invented by Amy Bergin. Amy was nice enough to send me a Couponizer to review, and even better, one to give away to one of my loyal subscribers!
If you haven't seen The Couponizer in action, let me tell you a little bit about how you can save time and money by using it. The Couponizer is a complete organizing and shopping system for grocery coupons, gift cards, shopper loyalty cards and other retail, restaurant, service and entertainment coupons. All of the extras make it easier to save money not only at the grocery store, but just about everywhere you spend money.
The front of The Couponizer has a sleeve to hold your shopping list, Amy's product comes with a tear pad to create your weekly shopping list. It also has two more sections to place coupons that will be used on your shopping trip and coupons that are to be handed to your cashier. I find these sections very helpful for organizing my coupons. One other sleeve I found holds the coupons that are expiring soon. I put coupons here that I really want to use so I don't forget I have them!
The middle section of the organizer has sleeves so you can sort coupons by type such as; Baking, Beverages, Breakfast, etc. In the last section of The Couponizer you can keep your coupons for restaurants, services, entertainment or retail.
Each Couponizer comes with a plastic zipper carrying case, a pair of scissors, shopping list, CouponTracker, CouponStacker and a great guide to get you started. The regular Retail Price of The Couponizer is $19.99 and I am sure you can save that much in just one trip to the store once you get yours to work for you!
Sound like a product you might like? Why not enter our Giveaway? We are giving away The Couponizer to 1 lucky winner.
Contest starts 1/03/09 and ends 1/08/09 at midnight (EST)

Money saving tip is to look at this website before I head anywhere to shop!
A best and most recent find is I went to bed bath & beyond 50% Christmas sale with my $10 off $25 Yankee coupon from this site. At check out a 22 oz candle cost me 7.50 instead of 25. I used my credit at check out so I can earn products with each dollar I spend. I am stashing them away for future gifts.

hello, buying 75% off baking supplies – that aren’t specifically Christmas looking can allow you to give gifts in the winter months……..cheaply……snowmen work until March…….at least here in the midwest.

I think my best money saving tip is to plan — especially when going to the grocery store. Make a list and stick to it – so as not to be sucked into impulse items you either don’t need or aren’t good for you!

money saving tip: stock piles are ok. Once a year I have a garage sale and sell surplus. Sometimes I ebay them. Then when I need a gift, I make a basket of goodies. This has always went well.

My best tip is to always carry my coupons with me. I left them at the house once when we went to the in-laws. Ended up stopping to pickup some drinks for dinner and low-and-behold I saw something on clearance for .49 while my $1.50 coupon was at home. Talk about OVERAGE city and me without coupons!
So my tip is to ALWAYS HAVE YOUR COUPONS WITH YOU!

I love couponing and even pay attention when stores say they will triple or quadruple small coupons, for up to a $1 in savings. I keep my cut-out coupons in a file by month, so that I can keep a close eye on the ones that are due to expire. Isn’t it maddening to miss a $1 coupon because it expired! Yikes! My secret for saving money is buying more than 1 newspaper when I know there’s coupons inside. I also go to multiple online sources for printable coupons. Most of those can be printed at least twice. Most people who clip coupons have a family. Buying one of something usually doesn’t cut it. Having multiples of the same coupon allows you to fully take advantage of sale prices at the store. I have a store by me that will take 2 coupons when buying a buy one get one free. Test those registers at the local store. Usually you can use 2 coupons on the same item if one is a manufacturers coupon and the other is a store coupon.
Thanks for the contest!

I do the Walgreens Rebate. I like to combine the rebate with a coupon. I come out ahead on some items. I have the rebate put onto a Walgreen’s Gift Card and get 10% more back. Then the next month use the gift card I just got to buy the rebate items. I have been reloading the same gift card for over a year now.

I use eBay for lots of things that I would buy at stores. Even including the shipping price, I save big $$. For instance, one of my favorite Olay products is about $28 at the store, but I can get it for about $12 total on eBay. I get designer clothes with tags on them for less than 1/10 of the retail price sometimes. I rarely shop in retail stores anymore. Even Wal-Mart seems pricey now!

Plan your shopping as much as possible to the sales flyer and pull out all the coupons you have the go with sales items at each store (that are in the weekly ads) Try to plan at least 5 mights meals that way and then have one night midweek as a leftover/clean out fridge night. This leaves one night to do as you must, eat out, not eat, mooch off friends.

Always try to stack your manufacturer coupons with specific store coupons, rebates and in-store sales. I have found some great deals on summer clothing at Kohl’s Department store. I have found boys shorts for $2.50 and women’s short sleeve/sleeveless shirts for $1.40 to $3.00. Most of the time these deals continue through out January as I believe they are cleaning out their stock rooms.

My biggest tip to those starting out is make a complete list before going to the store, then stick to it! Plan out your meals for the week before making the list. And check the ads for your stores while you’re planning the meals and only have meals with food purchased on sale. Stack your coupons on top of a sale! That’s how we stick to meals $5-6 a pc!

I do most of my shopping at one store (Krogers) to use the following benefits: double coupons, % off on fuel purchases, & registered store card w/U-Promise for additional college savings for grandson. Other items that I need I usually p/up wherever I can find the cheapest price. If I watch sales, a lot of items (w/double coupons) can be purchased for free at Krogers. A couple of months ago, I got $63.oo worth of items at Krogers (including toothpaste & brushes, gatorade) for a little over $2.00 (97 cents was tax).

Always, and ONLY, buy non-perishables, such as paper towels, TP, napkins, cleaning supplies, canned goods, etc. when they are on a super sale AND you have great coupons that you can hopefully double or even triple. And don’t forget to take advantage of every rebate you can find on things you routinely use. Rebates have kind of fallen by the wayside, but there are still some great ones out there if you pay attention!

I wait for all the grocery store flyers to come on Tues and then go on coupon websites and print out the coupons I need for the sale item. I make a list of what I need for the week and try to stay with the list. If something is unadvertised at the store, which I use and a good price, I will of course purchase the sale item as well.

I couldn’t read ALL of the tips, so I hope this isn’t already posted…I always pay cash for groceries. I follow Dave Ramsey…when the cash is gone, it’s gone. You’re a LOT less tempted to stray from your shopping list. I’ve recently started making a “weekly” menu, making a list of things that I don’t already have on-hand and stick to that list. I’ve saved $200.00 just in the past 2 weeks!! AND the family sees the menu on the fridge, so I don’t have to answer “What’s for dinner?” 3 times a day! Oh, and I ALWAYS leave the hubby and kids at home!

I always sign up with restaurant websites (Macaroni Grill, Maggiano’s, Baskin Robbins, Mimi’s, etc.) and enter my birthday and anniversary. They will send you free coupons for cake (Macaroni Grill), $10 off a meal (Maggiano’s), free scoop ofice cream on your b-day (Baskin Robbins), Free breakfast coupon (Mimi’s)and so on. Learn where the mark-down racks are in all stores. Stores will take coupons on these products, too, although they may have to hand ring them. With really good sales, you can get a whole lot of items free or nearly free. Do watch product expiration dates on these items, though. They often aren’t good for stockpiling.

I LOVE to travel! However, we’re a one-income family so I have to plan well so I don’t have to cut corners too severely in order to get to actually enjoy our vacation time! We ALWAYS save money by staying with friends OR borrowing friends’ campers OR house swapping with friends in places we want to visit. For example, when we travel to TN, we camp out in our friends’ camper in their driveway! We’re not obligated to their schedule since we’re technically apart from their house but we still get to spend time with them and stay FREE!

I also wait until after every Holiday to buy wrapping paper and or candy and use that for up coming events at school so long it doesn’t have the particular holiday colors and such. I’ve gone to a store and brought home 4 bags of groceries and with my ad matches and coupons I only spent $30. With today’s prices you gotta save when and where you can.

Being a mom of 4 kids, a husband and a dog I can fully relate to your organization issues.
For vacations and Christmas any extra cash (savings from purchases, $ gifts from friends and family and bonuses) is put aside and not allowed to be touched. I thought this would help me at least get a start on a good cushion toward the expense of these events, but I have to say, “No credit cards were pulled out for anything.” It was great on black Friday when I payed for cash for all my finds. I’m already starting on this years vacation.

1. NEVER go shopping on an empty stomach, it increases the appeal of impulse buys.
2. ALWAYS have a list of what you need, if you don’t you’ll end up with un-needed items and without what you REALLY needed.
3. ALWAYS check the ’single-unit’ price when sale says “10 for $10″ etc, sometimes they jack the price up for these “sales”.

I really need this organizer. Then maybe my life will be less hectic LOL I’m always forgetting my coupons if I need to run to the store quick. I live less than a mile to Walmarts Neighborhood Market and I’m running there constantly because I forgot something that wasn’t on my list and I forget my coupons. I keep saying I’ll leave them in my van then that gets cluttered(doesn’t have a middle console/caddy) So I’m desperate for this organizer Laurie

I try to buy as much as I can when I have B1/G1 offers and then donate to food pantries, etc, especially if it is a product my family won’t use two of. Also, I get coupons from my mom, mother-in-law, sometimes people at work (we just bring in unwanted ones and leave in the breakroom for others), and I also buy the local paper. This gives me multiple coupons, then I stock up when products go on sale. I try to shop alone as my husband and son add about $50.00 to the cart. Best money saving tip is to remember your coupons (I tend to forget sometimes or lose my organizer!).

The one tip that I think a lot of people forget is simply to buy the sunday paper, cut out the coupons, and remember to bring them to the store with you. When I first began using coupons I would be too lazy to get up on Sunday to buy the papers, I would leave the coupons all over the kitchen and dining room table, or I would forget to bring the coupons with me when I went to the store.

I always compare the prices of different sizes by looking at the price per weight/unit. It helps to find the cheapest item, sometimes it’s a different brand then what’s on sale- just because it’s on sale doesn’t mean it’s the cheapest. I also bring my own reusable bags and get 5cents per bag at Stop and Shop.
Anne

I comparison shop online and in the newspaper… then take the ads and the coupons. Usually saving 75% of the cost of the item! Buying as much as I can with the savings.

What a great item to have! Much better than my 4×6 photo album LOL
One of my most used money-saving tips is to buy items that can be used for other purposes. My family uses Kosher salt, but when canisters of traditional salt go on sale, I buy multiples and save them to sprinkle on icy steps and driveways! Much cheaper than rock salt and works well too. When holidays are over, I go to the Wilton baking goods and buy multiple packages of cupcake lining paper; much more ‘cent-sible’ to buy them for .25 than to pay full price and the kids get a kick out of seeing holiday prints on their muffins all year round. I also buy the nice big Wilton cookie cutters after holidays too; much more affordable than full price and they are great!

After christmas I purchase many of the bath, perfume, and other gift sets that are priced half price or more off. I try to find ones that are not holiday printed …I often use these gift sets throughout the year for other gift exchange events. Sometimes I disassemble the gift sets to remove holiday packaging and reassemble into new baskets with different ribbons, wrapping, etc. this saves a ton for me throughout the year and everyone loves their pampering gifts.

My son loves Rice-a-roni but the price on those little boxes just keeps increasing. So I buy long grain white rice in the bulk section of my grocery store to keep on hand. Then when Rice-a-roni is part of a major sale I buy as many as they will let me. I’ve already saved by buying bulk and buying on sale…but there’s more.
I’ve learned there is enough in those seasoning packets that come in that little box that I can actually add a cup of long grain to the pot and essentially double the volume while cutting the cost per serving…and still have all the flavor.

There are so many money saving tips. Clipping coupons, watching for double and triple coupons, this website(which is awesome by the way) hleps so much. Some people feel they don’t have time to do these things, but once you get in a groove it really works and it can be fun to see what you save. Since I have moved to a new area one of my biggest money saving resources has been my local paper or periodicals and chamber of commerce or town hall. You can find so many free or very inexpensive activities for your family. I love keeping the family active and have had more fun since our move utilizing our local resources!! Try it!!

Too many people do not distinguish between things they want and things they need. Prioritize your needs first. After that, save for future. Then and only then buy your wants. Can’t afford to buy it now? Then save until you can. I pay all credit cards in full every month. The only thing we make payments on is the house. No, we don’t have a new car, new appliances or new furniture. We also don’t have debts.

money & TIME saving tip – best product at the grocery store….the Ziploc or Glad vacuum freezer bags. we always seem to have left overs. They of course go in the fridge, then get tossed. (usually because we dont want the same food two days later; and then it goes bad.) so, now we make a bigger meal, put extra in the freezer bags and throw it in the freezer. it’s perfect 2-3 weeks later to pull out and have a nice meal. saves time to just reheat that evening, and saves money because it’s getting thrown out.

First, cut out only the coupons for things you usually buy or need. Don’t let them tempt you to get things you don’t really need or normally see as splurging. Secondly, watch the sales and use the coupons only when the item is also on sale. Thirdly, use it at a store that doubles coupons. If you do this you’re really getting the best deal. I would love this coupon organizer. I use the little cardboard ones they sell at the store, but they wear out frequently.

Someone already listed my favorite, which is to always look for a coupon code before placing an online order. But, I have another one. That is to save receipts when you purchase from nonfood stores because many of them have policies that if the item/s you purchased goes on sale within a certain number of days (that are set according to their own store policy)you can receive a refund of the difference in price. I reminded someone in my family about this last week and today she informed me that she just got a $22 refund on a video game because she noticed it was on sale and had the receipt.

When shopping with coupons I find stores that will double them….most stores will double to.99.
K-Mart has been having double double coupons to $2.00. i received many items almost free in the month of November and December.
I stock up on coupons by asking neighbors for their newspaper and then keeping extra coupons in stock.
