What Not to Buy

Grills – I know it’s tempting to go out and get that grill this month and prices are lower than recent months, but July and August usually bring clearance prices. If you can wait a few weeks for that new grill, we think you’ll be very happy with the prices.

Swim and summer apparel – Swimsuits and summer clothing are in high demand this month. Retailers will want to profit this month so we will see lots of inventory but not as good of sales. If you can, wait until August when we should see big savings on suits, sandals, shorts and more.

Air conditioners – Unless your AC is on its last leg, you should wait for fall to buy a new unit. Once the cooler weather returns, the rates will also go down.

Bikes and sporting equipment – We’ve all been waiting for this warm weather to get back outdoors but keep in mind that retailers know this! They will try to profit off your excitement with increased prices on bikes, basketballs, tennis rackets, golf clubs, and any other gear so be careful. If you can, wait for September for better discounts.

Patio furniture – You should definitely avoid buying any new outdoor furniture in June. It’s very tempting to want to replace an old patio set this month as you sit outside on a beautiful evening but remember that prices will reduce significantly beginning in August.
